Application CM Stom Trigger
Provides additional power to the Trigger USB hub and increases the brightness of the keyboard LEDs.

First things first, the power adapter works great. I've got mine plugged into a spare Nexus 7 charger and now I can set the brightness higher and actually use the USB ports on the back of my Trigger.
For $5, why in the word would this not just be included in the cost of the originally $125 keyboard? After about a year I started getting "Not enough power on the USB hub" errors on Windows 8.1 and it would take uninstalling, rebooting, and a myriad of other things to get the keyboard working again. At one point I honestly thought it had just completely died. This was my last ditch attempt at keeping my Trigger alive for a few more years and luckily it worked, but I can't for the life of my understand why this wasn't included with the keyboard in the first place. Huge potential for lost trust/customers when a device barely functions without having to purchase an additional cable.

The standard USB connection does not deliver enough power by itself. CM should probably included this cable with the unit, because the hub is near unusable without it.
I had a 500ma USB wall plug from an old phone I am using to save me the usb slot in my pc.
The cable is a little cheap looking which is sad next to the beautiful standard trigger USB cable.
Plugged this in and I had access to two more lighting brightness levels (From 3 to 5). "Breathing" mode looks cooler with 5 levels to cycle through instead of 3. My 8gb flash drive there "wasn't enough power for" before now works great in the built in hub.

Plug it in, get brighter lights and more USB power. What can I say?
Using an extra iPhone USB wall adapter for power.

Works as advertised, but unfortunately you need to have you're own 5v - 1A USB to power outlet adapter because it's not included. I had an old Microsoft Zune power adapter on hand and it works fine (rated 5v 1A).
I tested it by using my WD Passport 500GB USB 3.0 portable drive and Win7 recognized it. Win7 did suggest to use it in an available USB 3.0 port for greater speed, so the Trigger's ports are only USB 2.0.
The power adapter also adds 3 levels of extra brightness to the back lighting.
One thing I also noticed was the keyboard stays on even after the computer shuts off when you use the power adapter . you can tell it's still on because the Caps/Num/Scroll Lock lights are always on. I guess this is a feature that allows you to charge your mobiles even if your PC is off.
