I got them today and put them to use, not only did they do wonders for my laptop and its overheating problem when I try to game, but these are also soo quiet I thought they where not working, very nice.

I would rate this 5 stars if only the fans lasted longer. I would really like an option to replace just one of the fans instead of all 3 fans with USB power. Great value at $9.99!

I use my HP Envy 17-3077nr, a 17.3" monitor laptop, with Intel I7 Quad core processor, to the max:
2 external 2GB HDDs
16 GB RAM
2 external monitors (three monitors total)
I am running many programs at once (legal, accounting, legal research, email, data base, WP).
I added three additional fans (six total, they can be easily be placed for optimal positioning) for ultimate cooling. I found the Cooler Master U3 the most adaptable, best made (anodized aluminum frame), greatest cooling laptop stand on the market...bar none.

I purchased a Cooler Master U3, all aluminum laptop stand for use with my HP 17-3077nr 17" laptop computer. I added 3 more fans for a total of 6 fans. I max my computer's capabilities. I use the internal 17.3" monitor and connect two additional 17" Shuttle monitors; one via HDMI and one via an external USB video card. My OS is Windows 8.1 and I run as many as 10 programs at once and two external HDDs. I use my computer for business; CPA and litigation support/mediation. My computer stays cool whereas before the use of the Cooler Master U3 with 6 fans (and I can conveniently place them where they are needed the most), my computer would shut down due to thermal overload. The CM U3 IS THE BEST, HANDS DOWN, laptop cooler. CM's customer support is great as well.

I immediately recognized the ingenuity of the Cooler Master Notepal 2, so I bought one.
1) The stand is black, which is best at both absorbing and radiating heat.
2) Able to position fans where they are most needed.
3) The stand is made of metal, which acts as a heat sink, and heat is dissipated as air is pushed through it.
4) Even without the fans I think my laptop would run much cooler than if sitting on a desk.
5) I also like the angle it places my laptop in. Much more comfortable than flat.
The problem is, the fans started having problems way too soon, so I had to buy new ones. I chose to replace my 2 fans with the 3 fan version with the speed controller. Maybe the fans will last longer if I run them at half speed.
I noticed the wearout seems to be somewhat connected to a resonance, because when I pushed on the fan to better couple it mechanically to the stand the noise was diminished. I’m going to open up the fan/stand interface of the bad fans and see if I can put in stronger springs to accomplish a better mechanical connection and avoid the resonance. If my new fans start having problems I’ll try this on a future replacement. I also noticed someone said the fan/stand interface screws occasionally need tightening, which may contribute to the resonance. I’ll keep an eye on that.
It is possible the wearout is partly due to too much dust on the blades, causing an imbalance. This probably happens when there is uniform dust buildup on the blades, but then some falls off. I’ll use my canned-air to avoid this in the future.
Even with the bad fans I am still very pleased with my Cooler Master stand purchase. I never ever use my laptop without it, and attribute its reliability to always having excellent cooling. I have several of these stands already, but would buy another one if the design changed to a hinged back section so I could more easily put it in my laptop bag.
I would like to know what type of speed controller this 3-fan unit uses. Is it a simple resistor in series with the supply? It looks like the fans have 3 wires though, so they are different from the original fans.

This is a great product! I wish the fans lasted as long as metal base. However, since the fans are easily purchased they do not detract from my rating!

Replacement fans and motor work great so far. I love the Cooler Master because of it's versatility and being able to replace the fans, etc., is a big bonus for me! My original fans worked well but the USB cord end quit from wear.
The Cooler Master is quiet and gets the job done. I do not have any "ticking" noises. Suggest you check the cord system between the fans. If one cord gets in the way, there's "ticking". I used small black twist ties and tied all the cords down on the frame once the fans were in the position I wanted them to be in. I also tied down the clip-on motor as well in the position I wanted it. The Cooler Master is now much more movable from place-to-place without cords getting in the way and without the motor sliding off. This is a great product for the money. I've had my Cooler Master for at least two years now. With some of the gaming I do, my laptop would have been "toasted" by now if I didn't use the Cooler Master with it!

I bought this 3 fan unit to replace my 2 fan unit. It is doing a fine job keeping my computer nice and cool. A great price too! Very quiet too!

Ordered 6 fans for my NOTEPAL U3. Works as advertised. I've only been using it for a few months now but no complaints thus far. It keeps my tablet pc's internal fan pretty silent, only kicks in during heavy heavy processing.

Bought a new Cool Master cooling stand with three fans on Amazon for a new laptop which is very nice. Thank You.
I also have an older (seven years) aluminum base two fan model which I still use for an older laptop.
I purchased these fans (three) to swap out onto the the older aluminum base. They attached right onto the frame perfectly. So, the frame's hole punch outs are the same specs as seven years ago, ie, not forced obsolescents. Functionally, Very quiet. Can't tell it's on until I start doing CPU intensive things.
Highly recommended, as the aluminum frame is sturdy and will literally last forever. And, as in my casse, you can rejuvenate or refurbish an older base simply by replacing the fans. So that's economical. Not exactly what we typically get in an increasingly disposable cheap plastic world.
